Abulites

Background

Abulites (Greek: Ἀβουλίτης) was the Achaemenid satrap of Susiana. Following the defeat of Darius III at Issus, he surrendered Susa to Alexander the Great when the latter approached the city.[citation needed] According to Plutarch, both Abulites and his son Oxathres were put in irons and killed by Alexander with a javelin for their "misconduct" in not properly preparing for Alexander's arrival to Susa and only providing 3000 talents of silver.[1] [2]References[edit]Jump up ^ James Ussher, The Annals of the World, 2007, p. 287.Jump up ^ Flavius Arrianus, Alexandri anabasis, Book 3, chapter 16, section 9, line 3ff.
