Achaemenid Empire > Pharnacid Dynasty

Pharnacid Dynasty

Background

The Pharnacid Dynasty was an Indo-European/Indo-Iranian/Indo-Aryan Dynasty that ruled over the Satrapy of Hellespontine Phrygia between the 5th and 4th centuries BC. The Pharnacid Dynasty was founded by Artabazus who was the son of the satrap named Pharnaes I and based out of their capital at Dascylium near modern Ergili in Turkey. Pharnaces I had been the younger brother of Hystaspes, and the son of Arsames meaning that the Pharnacid Dynasty was directly related by blood to the Achaemenid Dynasty.
